I’ve written for Vanity Fair, the Believer, the Village Voice, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Salon, Slate, Wired, Entertainment Weekly, the Week, Buzzfeed, NPR, Lingua Franca and many other places. In all I wrote around 20 cover stories for Time. I was the book critic at Time magazine for fifteen years, from 2002 through 2016, and I did a lot of technology coverage there too. In 2021 I wrote a movie called The Map of Tiny Perfect Things that was released on Amazon Prime and was a finalist for the Critic’s Choice awards. It’s a sequel to The Silver Arrow, which was a New York Times bestseller and was on the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, People magazine, Apple and Amazon best-of-the-year lists. My newest book, The Golden Swift, a novel for children, was published in May 2022. I’m probably best-known for the #1 New York Times bestselling Magicians trilogy- The Magicians, The Magician King, and The Magician’s Land-which has been published in thirty countries and adapted as a TV show that ran for five seasons on Syfy.
